Alleppey
|
Alleppey is a town at the shore of Vembanad Lake, a large brackish water lake in the State of Kerala at the SW coast of India. This area covered with river mouths, canals and this lake is called The Backwaters. So, boat is an appropriate vessel to go to Alleppey. From Kottayam, on the opposite side of Vembanad Lake, is it a nice one-day-trip for a relaxed tourist. An important part of the success novel "The God of Small Things" by Arundhati Roy takes part in the Alleppey area. Arundhati Roy is the daughter of Mary Roy, a very interesting woman who we were happy to meet on our second visit to Kerala. Here is a link to the town of Alleppey, and here is a link to Poo Nai's Alleppey. |
