Annamalai

Along the western coast of the Indian Peninsula follows an ancient hill range named the Western Ghats (ghats = steps). The range consists of an number of smaller ranges. One of these is Anamalai Hills (also transcribed Anaimalai). In the fall 1987 we went by bus across those hills from Udumalpet to Munnar. The road serpented up and down along the hill sides. The area consists almost entirely by tea estates, most of them owned by the Tata Company. Tata is one of the wealthiest families in India today.

Spelling Annamalai with two "n" alludes to the girls name Anna. Poo Nai's Annamalai is of course a female.

Here is a link to more information about Anamalai Hills and this is the way to Poo Nai's Annamalai.
