Harappa Harappa is situated in the Pakistan part of Punjab. Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro are the two most important archaeological excavation sites for the ancient Indus culture more than 4000 years ago. Although not as old as the civilizations in Egypt and Mesopotamia these are very important sites not only for the understanding of the history of the local area. If you want more information about this history we recommend Chad Greenwood's ECONOMICS OF THE INDUS VALLEY CIVILIZATION or if you want to enter deeply into the subject, Sir Mortimer Wheeler's CIVILIZATIONS OF THE INDUS VALLEY AND BEYOND. The last edition is from 1966 (Wheeler died in 1976). |
